IMHO, this quote was solely a miscommunication. The person making the quotation on the other end was simply making the assumption that your coach was a DP. I have found that we owners have to be VERY specific when talking to the uninformed when it comes to recreational vehicles - especially motor homes. Many workers are inexperienced and don't readily distinguish the differences between models, makes, etc.

It's a gas engine for gods sake. 7-8 quarts of oil max. Wal-Mart price for 5/20 wt. oil $26 for a 5 gallon jug. So figure $52 for oil $5-10 for a filter The rest is labor. THAT'S A RIP OFF. I doubt there is only a couple of grease fittings and a air filter maybe $20. A one hour job at the max.

So, in this regard, the $600 + tax is justified or what and I still say....Geeeeeezzzzzzhhhhhh and OMG! I mean, that should be enough in itself to kill some sales of DP coaches?...

Had to be a misquote. For my Cummins ISC330, 26 quarts of 15-40 oil ($90), Fleetguard oil filter ($40), and grease (impact on cost statistically insignificant). Add 2 Fleetguard fuel filters ($47) and I can do it myself for $177. Even with a shop rate of $110/hour (going rate in our neighborhood), I would be hard pressed to get a DP LOF up to that amount. The ability to crawl around under my rig and use a few tools for a few hours - priceless!

I get mine done at ford for $39.95 plus tax I have a ford v10
I just usually pull it in a big bay and the tech comes to it and does it all.
Call the ford dealer ahead of time and they will get you in.

We are here now at the Monaco Service Center in Coburg Oregon. The original quote of $595.99 for a lube, oil and filter change is in fact for a diesel. The price for a V10 gas engine is $299.99. We don't need an oil change yet so we'll wait until we can find a Ford dealer on our way home when the warranty work is done. And just for information sake, the labor rate here is $120 an hour and the people are very friendly.

How absurd; I hope no one falls for those "deals." Commercial Ford Truck dealership - $39.95 for LOF. Our first oil change on the Bounder was at the RV dealership; it was $130 and we didn't know any better. We soon figured it out.

Best of Luck. Hope the Service Center can erase all the mess and slop that the dealer left you with.

Please keep us posted as to how the progress is coming along on your coach issues. Will they provide you daily updates?

For that kind of money, I'd be super friendly, too. In fact, I think I'd have my own public relations person on hand, full time. Just wish I could get that kind of money all day long and with working out of my driveway and would even come out of retirement for it....

For a Triton. There is no way that is a correct price. I have done my own and had it done. Price for that is less than $100.00
