8.1 with 185,00 miles
I inherited my parents well kept 2003 Newmar Mountainaire 3776, 8.1 workhourse with 165,00 miles on it.
I added a Banks kit along with a few other items and another 20k miles. Running strong! Any one else have a high mileage rig doing well?

You're numbers are confusing. Is it 16,500 or 165,000?

Not confusing at all. Got it with 165K, put on another 20K now as the title says, 185K. Math is right.
Keep doing what you dad did and use all the same stuff he did. Don't start experimenting to be cleaver or "gee I think I'll try this instead".
BTW OP...lucky you. Good coach.

That engine will run and run. Had the 8.1 in a heavy dually service truck. It ran circles around the Ford V10 we had and with a heavier load. When it was time to upgrade and replace it, the service tech did not want a new truck if it couldn't have the same engine. We offered a diesel to him and he said he would rather keep what he had. It's still running strong and not a bit of trouble.

Holy Smokes and Congrats, that is impressive longevity. Did that engine ever see non synthetic motor oil? If so what oil was used and do not change that brand.

Math in your head is absolutely correct but the written numbers are incorrect. That's all I.B. George was saying.

why wouldnt it last a long time? Because its not a diesel?
The motor doesnt need 4,000+ rpms to lug along... its happy right around 2000 rpms... give or take a few. Plus the allison trans it was makes it THE best!

I agree with the above comment "Why wouldn't it last a long time ? " Ours also lofts along a day at 2000 rpm like it not really even working.
Here's another higher mileage (160,000 miles) 8.1 Vortec recently in the Workhorse section:

Mine has 66K miles, guess I have a lot of life left. My understanding is the motor was designed for at least 200K miles.

Left out a zero. Sorry
Yes 165,000 miles now 185,000 miles.
Never the same oil brand requested it used. Neither of is a believer in synthetics.
