Both are made for a 19.5 inch rim. The 245 is a wider tire and makes the MH handle much better. The 8R19.5 was designed as a truck tire. The 245 has a lot of extra motorhome designed protection. Sun ,ozone, etc. protection. The 245 is a better tire all the way.

You may have a clearance issue between your duals with the 245's, but the 225's might be OK, but not sure. Also I believe the 245's require a wider rim. I replaced the front 19.5's on our first coach with the 225's and it sure handled much better. Left the 19'5's on the duals as I wasn't sure if there would be enough clearance between the tires with the 225's.

Good year says that 225/70R19.5 is the equivalent of an 8R19.5. The 225 is actually a bit wider than an 8R, but probably not enough to cause dual spacing problems or be too wide for your wheels. Still, it is something that has to be checked with your specific wheels - we can't tell you from here.
Goodyear says:
Quote:
Conversion Checklist (8R19.5 to 225/70R19.5 only):
- Check with the vehicle manufacturer to ensure approval of the tire/wheel clearance and fitment
- Verify that rim width is compatible to run the 225/70R19.5
- A wider minimum dual spacing is required and should be confirmed
- Due to a tire diameter and static loaded radius difference there will be an increased number of revolutions per mile which will mean that the vehicle speedometer and odometer will read approximately 2.5% high. Because the difference in RPM is less than 3%, however, no changes to gearing would generally be required.

I'm sticking with the original factory size tire....too many unknowns looking at that different 8r19.5. So it will be 245 70 r19.5 for me.....
Thanks all!
