94 Pace Arrow odometer and speedometer problems

The odometer displays only dashes and the speedometer does not display the correct speed. It shows a slower speed than what it actually is. What causes this?

Howdy and welcome smlbaldloser!

The speedo inaccuracy is often due to different size tires, however; there are other possibilities. I had a 94 PA that had exactly the same two issues.

The speedometer at this time was not a chevy product. It was an Isspro product. You can contact them at 1-800-888-8065 They used a battery to keep the odometer mileage in memory. The battery has run down. That is why you are getting the dashes.

Speedometer issues

Is your rig a diesel pusher, if so it's has a electronic powered unit. I just experienced this on my Rexhall pusher.

Gas engine on a P30 chevy chassie. Where is the battery located for the odometer? The tires have not been changed.

The battery is about the size of a quarter. It is in the speedometer cluster. I would talk to isspro before working on it.

speedo

I am also the owner of a 94 P. A. with speedo and cluster issues. Does the odometer retain the previous milesge info after batt replace? This caused sell (to my advantage) and tktle questions (to my disadvantage)
Thanks

You can send the cluster back to Isspro. They will overhaul and upgrade it for you. The battery should not affect the speedometer. If you decide to remove it, be careful of the reset button and spring. They tend to pop out when you remove the cluster.

It has been ten years since I dealt with them. I don't remember if the miles are retained or if you have to send Isspro a affidavit stating the mileage. A affidavit is a legal document. Make sure you state the correct mileage. Should you give a low mileage and someone finds a document in the motorhome (such as a tire sales slip or an oil change) showing a higher mileage, you could be sued and prosecuted. We took the affidavit's very seriously.
