A&E window awning replacement

I have a 95 Winnebago Brave (27') and the three window awnings need to be replaced. The model and serial numbers on the roller of the awning are no longer legible. I called my local dealer and they said that they needed to have the model number of these awnings. I told him I couldn't read them but he insisted that they were needed to get a replacement fabric for them. Any ideas of what to do?

Hi CharlieTwo,
All they need to know is the length of the awning roller bar. Some want the centerline distance between the awning arms. Call another place and see if they know what they are doing. I'd stay clear of the parts dept of the place you called.

If you want a direct replacement the above will do it. However, there are many choices. Now may be the time to "get wild" and check out what else one can buy. Colors and designs might be something to consider.

Your dealer should be able to look it up in his book if he has the measurements off your old ones. Get the measurement off the old one and take a picture of them rolled out so he can see the pattern on them and what color they are . If he is any good he should be able to get what you want from them by doing that. Now if the man behind the counter is a youngen then all bets are off.

Charlie, I just bought a used awning (because of discontinued) today at Visone's RV salvage in Kentucky. The guys are great to deal with and I thought the price was fair for what I got. The website is easy and I have been checking their "parting out" section for a while to spot what I was looking for. My question to you is do you need new fabric or everything?

I need new fabric. The arms and rods are in great shape. I'm retiring in 9 mo. and 9 days (not that I'm counting) and want to get as much expenses out of the way as I can. I will try another dealer and see what they do. thanks guys.

I would check into a upholstery shop, you might save some money. The awning I just bought probably won't match my fabric but I needed the hardware.

I just saw a MY that needs new fabric and arms!! They left the awning out when a stom came up suddenly. Ours was protected by the rig so I was able to get it put away in time. The destroyed one was exposed and no one home at the time.
