It is amazing how generous some total strangers can be. I was once on a "What do you want for Christmas" thread on a motorcycle forum and said, jokingly, that all I wanted was a clutch cover for my ZRX that wasn't all skint up.
My wife was in the embroidery business at the time and sewed custom shirts for some of the members. One of them called her and told her to tell me I had a package on the way. A few days later she came home with a package containing an unskint clutch cover -- $200 new.
I'd talked the the gentleman online, but we'd never met.
I've seen similar acts of generosity here.
