For a tight budget and less chance at costly repairs I would consider Class C's as well. Oddly enough you would have more sleeping areas in the Class C for all those grandkids.

For that budget, I would look only at gassers. Could you find a wonderful diesel? Sure, but the odds are not in your favor. Any idea what it would cost to rebuild a turbo, for example?

You can certainly find a very nice unit for 25K. For example, If you are interested in a 38' diesel pusher, look at Newmar Dutch Stars in the 1998, 1999 range. Really nice units with excellent engines/transmissions. Be patient and you'll find one in your price range. You'll find gassers in great condition for even less. We just bought a 2000 Newmar Dutch Star Diesel Pusher. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Excellent condition. Awnings look brand new. Be patient. Research differences between DPs and Gassers. You'll find a fine unit that you'll be delighted with in your price range or below.

Yes you should be able to find something that will work for you. In 2015 we purchased a 2007 Damon Daybreak for 21,500 with 21,000 miles and 129 hrs on Gen. Drove it for 4 years and 17,000 miles. We have moved on to a DP but sold the Daybreak for 21,500 ourselves and did not trade. Sold to first couple that looked at it. NOW I did do some upgrades but not big money things but how many vehicals can you drive for those years and miles and get what you paid for it. Look and don't get in a hurry and you will find something. Best of luck to you.

1/506th ABN/- 2/506th AMBL here. Finding a coach that would fall into that amount would need someone who can for sure be an all around handyman and no matter what, do your homework on the coach across the board before purchasing it. Good luck!

Look here for what you are looking for. I did a search for class $15000 to $ 30000. Hope this helps.

We bought a 2005 earlier this year for $23k the biggest expense was had to pay $2k to get the fuel lines replaced because they were dry rotted. Had a garage do that because it involved dropping the tank. Also we gave the dealership full asking price but had them fix several things. Like resealing windows replaced slide out awnings and they replaced a panel on the inside that had water damage from the Windows leaking.

We are still having a window leaking but they are working on it. Everything else I have been working on myself.Click image for larger version

As suggested above, go to rvt.com or rvtrader.com and fill out their search forms. That is where you will see what is available in your budget.
Don't rule out class C coaches.
You will have to go older to find a diesel and the maintenance may be outside your budget.
Have fun searching!

I bought a 2014 last year low miles for under $50k so it’s easily doable. I’d look for a well maintained gas coach. That way any repairs on chassis that come up won’t sink you financially like a diesel will.

WOW!! So much help.

I really appreciate all the suggestions. I can’t answer each of youIndividually but will try and cover some of your questions. First off, my budget after purchase is around $5K for upgrades and repairs. I am a very active DIYer. I own a woodworking business and can do all the interior work to include electrical and plumbing. I can work on an engine if I have a manual but leave big jobs to the mechanics. I do hope to pull a vehicle in our trips. We are wanting to travel out west and need a unit that will not leave us stranded. We don’t expect to take many trips with the grandkids. They are all involved in sports all summer and may go on a weekend trip to the lake. I know to take my time when buying. I always do my homework before I buy anything. I just need to know what to study lol. And now I have a pretty good list of things to look for. We are in no big hurry to buy. We originally wanted to buy next year but if I find a good deal I will pull the trigger now. Keep the suggestions coming.

Foretravel Monacos older were some nice rigs , just go for a cummins with 6 speed allison.. We got a older 32 foot Dynasty monaco which is perfect for me and the wife bought in 2014 it had 60,000 miles on it and we've put about 20,000 on it rides and drives like a big bus smooth and quite...... If you do get a older diesel side raditator makes servicing a piece of cake . I can replace the water pump on mine in 15 min or belts in 5 ... Every Camp we go to people like and complement our old rig !! good luck
