Sometimes we have to step outside our comfort zones. If you truly believe you can handle that rig I'd drive it off the lot! I'd drive the hell out of it for a week, forward and backward, and then I'd drive it to the DMV and take my test. But then again I'm not from Texas. Good Luck

Recently got mine to be legal.

I would get the dealer to agree to assist with getting you licensed vs just driving your truck.
put it in writing ass part of the deal - dealers are in a perfect position to be able to do this - they have rigs & plates to allow test drives which could include some driving tips & practice.

I got my permit and had to drive 800 mi home before even considering taking the test as I needed to wait for a title... complete licensing and then schedule the test. Difficult part was finding someone that could accompany me to / from test.

Lazy Days has some good instructional videos on utube that helps with the basics.

Not really that big. Our 38' Allegro RED weighed in at 29,500 and the 40' Phaeton is at 35,800. If you are legally licensed in your home state, then you are legal to drive in any state or Canada by reciprocal agreement. Some states require a higher license and some don't.
