Accessing Electric Water Heater Switch

Hi everyone, My first post and question so please bare with me if this is not the right spot to ask. That being said just bought a used 2000 Winnebago Adventurer 37G and I can't get the Atwood electric heater to work. The propane side works great and I'm hooked to shore power. I've had two fifth wheels a pull trailer and a motorhome before so I'm not an RV newbie. Water in the WH tank power on (on/off switch in the on position)
Getting power to the rig checked the breakers. I know there's a switch on the back of the tank (according to the manual) I just see no way of getting to it if that's even the problem. GHC10AE3 Atwood water heater

The electric element maybe open, should be a electric switch near the gas switch in your over head, Atwood's have diodes that could be blown, this link may have more answers or this one.

Also.... the element may be fried. See if you can get to it with a multi meter to see if it's getting juice.

Turning it on without water in the tank will fry it in seconds.... ask me how I know.... Or they just wear out. PO may not have had the motivation to fix it.

Good news is they're cheap and easy to replace.

GCH10A-3E model. Last model that electric & propane were separate controls/t-stats etc

Backside of water heater is a cover down at bottom of tank
The OEM electric On/Off Switch is mounted on the side of that cover
Under the cover is the electric element and the electric set of t-stat (normal & ECO)










As for Access....
What is directly behind where water heater is installed?
Is there a removable panel in compartment to the side?
How about from underneath?

If the element is bad then it wont conduct electricity, dis connect at least one wire from the element and check for continuity.
