ACE 29.2 "Coffee Table"

We have a 2013 Thor ACE 29.2. Later models of this coach have, either as standard or optional, a small table that mounts between the driver and passenger seats immediately aft of the doghouse. I would like to add one to our ACE but need to make sure that if I cut a hole in the desired location, there will be no price to pay.

I've had the doghouse off and it looks like there is some sheet metal below the floor at that point that sounds hollow. In other words, I think if I cut the hole in the floor at that point, there is a void space into which my table pedestal mount would slip.

Before I start drilling, I would ask for advice on whether this is a good idea or not.

Thanks in advance for any input.

My 2015 ACE 29.2 has surface mount brackets for both tables.

When we had the same MH, we bought a fold-up table from Staples for $30 instead. We just put it up when we needed it and stored it beside the Master bed when not (or down in the basement).

Correction; on looking closer, the dinette base is surface mount. The cockpit base is recessed for the table base.

I know this doesn't provide an answer to your question, but I just bought the linked below table and think it will be very versatile plus we can take it outside if we want. It folds up and came with a storage bag.

Good ideas

I appreciate the feedback.

For clarification, my plan is to insert an aluminum pedestal mount base in the hole I propose drilling so the mount is flush when the table will not be in use. I considered the surface mount base, ala dining table, but was concerned about tripping over the thing when stepping out of either front seat. There's precious little foot room in that area.

I do like the folding table idea but I like the inherent stability, and single leg, of the pedestal mounted table.

I surely don't want to make a mistake here.

I know this thread was from several months ago, but I'm wondering if you ever completed the addition of the recessed mount? I would like to do the same.

I did! I used a 2 1/2" hole saw and drilled just aft if the doghouse and inserted the recessed mount. I purchased a 24" round table blank from Lowes, a 27" pedestal and raised mount from an internet source and put it all together. Works pretty well.
