Add A Brake

Has anyone had problems with the "Add A Brake" Breaking system for tow vehicle?

Add-A-Brake is just Roadmaster's 'Even Brake' system sold under a separate name through Camping World. You can probably find user reports on the Even Brake if you use the forum Search function.

I had an Even Brake. It worked for a couple of years. It cost me $300 to get it repaired. It lasted another year before it broke again. I replaced it with something else. I cannot recommend it. Doesn't matter whose name is on it.

When I hook the brake up and plug it in it seems that the compressor continues to run for a few minutes and then quits and the break stops working until I unplug from power source and restart then it repeats the problem.

The compressor only runs as needed to keep up pressure. Not sure what you mean when you say "the brake stops working". Once the compressor has built up pressure in the internal air cylinder, the brake pedal is activated by a signal from the coach braking system. I'm not familiar with the details of your system, but there is probably also a test button on the brake unt itself, to give you visual proof it works.

Add A Brake problems

When plugged into the cigarette lighter the compressor seems to continue to run until it apparently overloads and shuts down completely, I unplug from the lighter and reinstall and problem starts all over again.

thanks
