Adding 50amp box on side of house

I am in the process of adding a 50AMP box on the outside wall next to the main breaker box. I plan to add a fuse breaker inside the outside box (which happens to have extra space).

I would like to close my new 50 amp box with the cord attached. The cord does have a handle (not flat).

Where can I get a box the will close with the cord w/handle?

Lowes, Home depot, amazon, local rv shop. Most outdoor boxes have the front extended to be weatherproof while in use and the box closed.

Midwest looks to have enough room to me. May need a closing hub for the top, but it may come with one

If you look at the second picture at the Amazon link for the Midwest box, you will see it is flat on the bottom of the cover. If the the cord is plugged in, it cannot close all the way because the cord is in the way. I have one.

Nope. Look at the cover or lid. It protrudes out.

Hard to argue with the 30.00 home depot box. But Midwest looks to have a little more room.

I bought one of these

Shop Eaton 50-Amp, 30-Amp, 20-Amp Overhead or Underground Temporary Power Panel at Lowes.com

I am currently using to provide power to a deep well pump powered by a portable generator but have plans to move it for my motorhome once I develop a parking area.

Hi Ho: Does that include the 50 amp plug with the molded handle? I assume that is the 50 amp Eaton with the single 50 amp outlet at approx. $30?

I sawed the handle off the Camco 30 ft 50A extension cord, problem solved, a normal box works fine now.

Most of the boxes I have used will not close all the way for the plugs with the handle. They will close far enough to keep the rain out.
