Adding value?

I am looking at a coach that was custom built for the customer in 2000. When you look it up on NADA it comes with 1 slide but this coach has a bedroom slide as well. How do you figure a fair value for something like that?

Generally speaking, on the used market, options or custom configurations add nothing to the value. You should look at the low retail $ and the overall condition and apparent condition of the coach and determine your own value.

Just for a clarification is close to low value what you pay for a good coach? exceptional coach? baseline coach? How much extra would you ballpark expect to add or subtract for condition. I know every situation is different / margins are different could supply / demand and location can play a factor in coach value as well?

One can add a small slide for about $15,000 at MorrisonsVIPcoach.com.

When buying a used coach, condition is everything. A good clean coach could be worth twice as much as one that was abused or neglected. The book numbers do not take this into account, but it is very real. It could mean the difference between a good reliable coach or one that is in the shop all the time eating up repair dollars. That good one is worth paying extra for!

As for an add-on slideout, I would pass. Slideouts have too many problems, even factory installed ones. I would not take a chance on a retrofit slide.

On the other hand, if the additional slide was built into the coach by the manufacturer as part of the original build, it could add 3-5K to the value.

We found an RV that was special built back when it was new. They took several floor plans and made one that is not really listed anywhere. Finding a price was just looking and finding one that was close, doing a real good inspection of the inside and out and under. Taking into account some things that were not working (ie the doorbell, lol) and various other things before offering a price to buy from the private seller. They knew we were serious about buying as we had been pre-approved already from my credit union.

Get it appraised by an insurance company or RV Repair Facility.
