i am looking at a 1999 newmar mountain aire 3762 (ford 43000 miles) that has a banks turbo system on it. how do i determine how much to add for the nada value? also, since i mentioned nada, i believe it's said to start negotiations around 15% under low retail value. is that about right?

NADA on a 15 year old coach is BARELY a starting point. It's $14,000 for this one. It could be worth nothing or double (or more) that depending on condition. As for the Banks stuff, some will say it adds a little, some will say it subtracts, split that and call it nothing.

Thanks for your opinions. If I add in the mileage for the gas engine on nada site low retail is just over 17k. Still way less than what the dealer is asking for it but gives me a low point to shoot for. If there aren't any problems with the coach I believe meeting in the middle of low and average retail would be fair for both parties. Since this my first class a purchase I appreciate everyone's input and hope the community can guide me through this.

JMHO, but I would be concerned the Banks system has done damage by increasing torque above the transmission's capability to handle it. I'd check it out.

I suspect that the dealer added nothing to the value of the rig for the Banks system for determining the trade-in value.

Perhaps you should do the same for the pricing.

Condition is king for determine value of older coach. The Banks system is at best a no added value.

Treat an RV purchase like a house purchase. After negotiating price, have third parties provide formal inspection of engine/driveline/chassis and house components. With the sale contingent upon positive outcomes of the inspections. Ensue the inspectors do not have a relationship with the dealer. Then depending on inspection outcomes renegotiate the price, walk away, or have dealer make repairs.
