Advice needed on upgrade

I was new to RV'ing last year and my wife and I LOVE it. We purchased a 2002 Fleetwood gas model and have taken many trips but we drive through the Rockies a lot. So we decided to upgrade to a diesel model. And we have narrowed the selection down to two at opposite ends of the spectrum. One is a 2004 Fleetwood Revolution, 330 HP, and the other is 2013 Thor Tuscany, 37'. My wife wants the Thor, but it is 2 1/2 times the price. I am good with either but wonder if the '13 technology is enough beyond the '04 to make the decision. Does anyone have experience or thoughts that can help us out with the decision? Thanks!! Walt

Have you thought about looking at a newer Rev?

Hi Rookie RVer,
I do not know either Brand. However, the answer is "it should be". A 13 model should be quite a bit more advanced that an 04 model. This is for what is included in the coach and in the automotive part of the coach. For me, you can't win this debate. First rule of coach buying is by the floor plan the wife likes.

However, there may be a way out for you. Will the coach:
1. carry all your stuff and you? This is CCC or NCC depending on the Brand. Failing that take the GVWR minus the unloaded vehicle weight (should be somewhere in the coach).
2. Will the coach tow what you want to tow? GCWR minus GVWR and the receiver weight capacity.

good luck

Mountain driving was declared a reason for the upgrade. Ensure you have enough engine power to git'er done.

The Revolution will have pretty much all there is to have, except possibly digital tvs. Most older coaches have already had tvs replaced, but check on that It's not a big deal, but it would be an extra cost vs the Tuscany. Other than that, I doubt if you would find many differences except nine years of wear.

Seems to me a happy medium would be a 2007 or so diesel pusher in the mid-upper scale brands would be the wise choice. I realize you didn't find one of those yet, but if the Tuscany is within your budget, there are a lot of gorgeous coaches possible. Check out some American Traditions & Eagles, Newmar Essex, Monaco Signatures, Tiffin Allegro Buses, etc. Go a few years older than 2013 and you get a top of the line rig with all the amenities and features at a price you can live with.

What Gary said. Look for a better quality used coach. With all the problems I've read and personally seen, I would stay away from Thor. Their QC isn't the best.
