my wife thinks it takes way to much force to max out the brakes on our 1999 country coach. is there a way to adjust the force needed on the brake peddel to reach max breaking?

I was having the same feeling. After crawling under the rig with a friend we determined the rear slack adjusters were at their max and needed replacement. The work is scheduled for the end of the month. Crawl under and if the rod coming from the air chamber to the adjuster shows a red mark, at he air chamber end, they need replacement. Check front and rear.

There is no adjustment in the brake valve. It will supply as much PSI as the system has available, between 120-135 psi. Either your brakes are out of adjustment and slack adjusters need adjusting or your brake shoes are worn out, either which would cause your push rods to bottom out.

If you have not been calibrating your automatic slack adjusters...you and all around you are in danger.

It is simple, easy and needs to be done on a regular basis.

Just do a search, watch the video(s) and calibrate your slacks.
