I have a 2003 Newmar Kountry Star -3905. I just purchased it and I would like to know from other owners if there is any way to adjust the air ride or is it automatic. My coach rides fine and tracks down the road very straight but I figured there must be a way to check the air in the front and rear suspension. Any help or discussion on this would help. The coach is built on a Freightliner chassis with a Cat 330 engine. There is nothing about it in the manual I got with the coach.

You have automatic height adjusters that set the ride height. They periodically need to be checked for correct setting. Only other 'adjustment' might be an air dump valve on your leveling jacks that lowers chassis so jacks don't have to lift so high to level.

The ride height is automatic. There r height sensors, 2 on the rear axle and 1 on the front,and the system maintains the height automatically

There are adjustments on the leveling valves themselves, The best I can remember it takes a 7/16th wrench to adjust. I am on our fifth air ride MH and have never seen sensors on any of them. I have owned several Tracter and trailers with air ride and they to are the same. Look up Neway leveling valves to get a look. My question is do they need adjusting? This can be fairly dangerous under a MH, it is pretty tight under one and if not done correctly the outcome can be fast and dangerous.

I wasn't suggesting owner should adjust, without proper knowledge and precautions. I was saying that height is automatically set, it is not like some custom car air suspension that can be set, dropped, or raised at a whim. Motorhome air suspension needs to be at proper height to keep drivetrain in alignment.

Thank you for the information. I am pretty mechanical but I have no experience with suspensions on any vehicle other than large aircraft. Hence the questions. I see a potential disaster if hands are in the wrong place at the wrong time...

Might not be true, both our DSDP's (2000/FL chassis and 2002/Spartan chassis) have had two in front and one in the rear.

Another question for this thread, Is it common for the air suspension to bleed down when parked for a few days without the levelers being deployed. My coach seems to squat in the rear after a few days. Any thoughts about this. It is something I need to look into ? thanks for the support

Mine will loose some air after a week of sitting. Normally both front and back drop at about the same rate.

I don't loose all the pressure after a weeks time though.

Be aware that when the air is lost in the system the frame will sit on stops. If the ground is un even, this can twist a frame with time, I thought my driveway was pretty even and after about a month the top corner of my windshield popped out enough to put my hand outside. It is like sitting a stack of quarters under a shoebox corner, in time it will twist. I had the windshield taken out and reinstalled twice before we figured out what was happening. Now I have a dead level pad I park on.
