Do you have trouble finding shopss that can handle your motorhome for aligning and/or balancing? I suspect the small shops near me could not begin to handle a 30K lb MH, but I might be surprised. How about trucking centers, would that be a possiblility?

Funny, was just thinking about that tonight. I am going to take it to a fleet shop near by. RV dealerships could probably do it also but might cost a ton.

Please let us know how that works out. I do not know of immediate need but could have need in future. Looked at 2009 MH today that had some wear on outter rib and dealer committed that it was not unusual in that particular brand and said often customers never had this checked once the loaded their new MH down. Continuing to say that they come new just fine, but once loaded with all a owners goods, it could change. Makes sense.

I just had new steer tires installed this week and a 4 wheel alignment done at a reputable heavy truck service shop. Ran the tires through FMCA (Michelin).

Thanks W2F, Was there just yesterday...looked at motorhomes at mhsrv and ancira (we like to look), had some sushi and headed home. About 3 1/2 hours one way, but might be worth it to get proper tire/alignment treatment. Our MH purchase last year was at ProSales in Colleyville.

I am planning on some service at Freightliner/Cummins in Tyler in the
future, they might be able to help also. I would like brakes checked for safety sake and piece of mind.

Check Michelin website for authorize dealers. Many/most are MH / truck experienced and capable.

Good advice. I do have Michelin tires.

Will do. My tires are 7 years old but have almost no tread wear. Hard to believe. Bought the coach used a month ago. They show no signs of dry rot / sun damage. Would like to get another year or so but also don't want to push it safety-wise.

I would be very reluctant to allow a RV dealer to do any chassis work.

why i ask Ray's champion spring just south of down town is where i had mine done. that said you were 5 minutes from my house off 35W. im packing now off to cedar creek then through tyler to henderson

FYI...the ride height should be checked prior to alignment.

I recently asked the local Strouhal Tire Center alignment tech about ride height adjustment prior to checking a motorhome alignment and he had that deer in the headlights look. He had a Tiffin Alegro Bus on the machine at the time.

If the ride height is off, the motorhome wheels cannot be aligned correctly.

Very few RV dealers even do chassis work - only the largest will have chassis techs and an alignment machine. They generally send the work out to be done. And charge extra for it.

Most any truck chassis shop can do a Class A motorhome.

This may be a dumb question but how do you tell if your wheels are stud piloted or hub piloted? I understand the difference between the two but am new to RV'ing and have never changed a tire so am not sure if I have additional lug nuts inside the outer dually wheel. I have a 2001 HR Endeavor and assume they are Hub Piloted. They are 255 /70 R22.5. Thanks for any help. When I purchased the vehicle it didn't have a spare so I want to purchase online to save a few $$.
