I f I had to join it would be AMAC instead of AARP. I think they have traveler's instead of Hartford.

DDJ,

Just the MH so far. I got a quote on the car and will switch it when the State Farm policy expires in May. Hartford came in about 40% less than State Farm.
Note that I am registered in Texas, if that makes any difference.

Cheers,

I checked with Hartford and was informed that I would have to rejoin AARP, but they do not insure motorhomes that have an MSRP higher than $340,000. That eliminates me on two counts.

I'm in Florida also with Nationwide/Allied. If they raise my rate 30%, I'm gone. That's ridiculous. Bob H.

Bob,
Thanks, I'm happy with USAA for the cars and did not want to switch them but might as well get a quote just got in case my Allied policy goes up like some of the others that live in FL too.

Jeff

Here's some comparisons for our 3 year old coach.

Foremost.............$2455
Allied..................$1879 (20% above last year)
Allstate................$1773
National/General...$1759
Progressive..........$1432
Hartford...............Won't insure RV with MSRP over $340,000

As much as I do not like the liberal policies of Progressives CEO, their rate looks good. I was with them on a few vehicles until last year when they priced themselves out of the market and Allstate got my business.

Why do these companies keep bumping the prices up to current customers and then give lower quotes to new potential ones?? Seems dumb to me. Why not try to keep the loyal customers that have been with them for several years??

The bump up is a common insurance practice. I shop all my insurance (except life) every 3 years as that seems to be the magic bump up year. I have no brand loyalty to insurance companies. I switched on a car one time and 2 days later had a claim. No problem, it was handled easily.

Allied increased my renewal about 10%. No claims, tickets just got another year older. Florida based policy.

I haven't used one but I've heard that a "broker" can get you the best rate. I've seen them at RV shows but can't remember the name of the popular one you see mentioned on the forums all the time.
