I replaced mine with the Amish one. Price was nearly comparable (with discounted freight) but the new Amish built one comes with a 5 year warranty while the remanufactured Dometic ones have a maximum of 1 year. And, from everything I read, the Amish unit performs better than the Dometic rebuilt ones. I'm very happy with the performance of the Amish unit in my Dometic fridge. By the way, the changeout of the cooling unit isn't for the faint of heart. Be sure you are relatively adept at mechanical things and definitely totally resolved to doing it yourself - and finishing it. If you get part way through the job and decide you want to have an RV tech finish it, most won't touch it because they can't guarantee the job since they didn't do it all. The instructions that come with the Amish one are pretty decent, but it still takes some mechanical know how and manipulating to make it all line up and work in the end. There are posts on this forum that will help you with the job also. My strong recommendation is to also replace the thermistor because if it goes out later on, you have to pull the refrigerator out of the cabinet again to replace it. Good luck with your project.

I heard there is a place in north carolina that can repair the existing one. I remember looking at there web site and it seem to me the way to go if your fridge fails. Try googling rv fridge repair north carolina.

We did our own Amish conversion, we took our time and did a lot of research before. Also installed extra fans in the roof which I can control via a switch. Also built baffles to help with the airflow up the back of fridge per Mr. Force and the Cooling Warehouse, they were great to work with and answered my Q's before I asked them! Very happy with results, finally firm ice cream!
