We have two dogs , that is we can fit in bed.

We only have one dog unless our daughter is traveling with us, then we end up with two. That's plenty for us. We did have two before, until we lost out shepherd, although she didn't travel well, she didn't like anything that moved and would actually bite at the cars in the other lanes????????

A few years ago it was 3 Saint Bernards in a 21' Class C, but vacationing only. (And no- I don't know how we did it...)

Today its fulltiming with 1 Saint and 2 cats in a 34' Class A.

In our travels we have met two different couples who travel long time (maybe full or near full time) with many show dogs. Both couples, one we met at a KOA in IN and another in a commercial cg in KY, complained that finding a place to stay was very difficult as most campgrounds and resorts have limits on maximum pets allowed. Both said they did a lot of boondocking/parking lot camping at fairgrounds, wally worlds, etc. not because that was a first choice but the only choice for an area.

Everywhere we go it pays to check ahead. We look at the rv listing, many are breed conscious and number . Always call ahead note who you spoke with, date and time. That has saved us several times. We travel with an 88 lb Golden, and a 75 lb border collie.

We are about to pick up our first MH to carry me, Sandee and 2 GSDs. This will probably be a big change in our lives because we have a nice fenced yard and can just let the kids out "when ever". Also, finding that many "pet friendly" camp grounds are not friendly to GSDs (and other "dangerous" breeds) so we are at least aware that we have to ask questions.

Beyond that, we know that we are going to have to make adjustments. Any of you folks have a list of things you needed to change pre vs post RV?

We travel full time in W. USA & Canada with a Golden & a Border Collie. We have never been turned away from any camp sites (private or public) but....

1) We avoid National Parks which usually have a policy against animals outside of the campground. Can anyone explain to me why parks which are created and "paid-for" by the public would restrict dogs from walking on the trails?

2) We avoid CG's that charge extra for our dogs. Actually they usually refuse me, since their justification is " it costs us extra to clean-up" .....to which I thank them for the fact that while I am staying with them someone from their staff will be around to pick- up poop!

At one point we had three large dogs, Rottie-mix, white German Shepard, and an Ausie. Right now just the Rottie-mix and Shepard travel with us. Heidi the Shepard (1 year old) has tried to eat everything in our RV. And, if I knew shepards shed this much I would have thought twice about her a year ago. No seriously, I wouldn't trade her for a fur free RV any day

Have a white shepherd ... and if I can recommend using a omega 3/6 supplement found at most pet stores... it significantly decreased his shedding

WOW Dave, I need more information on this 3/6 Supplement, the hair she produces is incredible. Is the Omega a fish oil?

Some one to put fish oil on her food to prevent shedding, it did nothing for the shedding. The vet told us to watch the fish oil use because it also promotes brain growth, I believe this because I think she's smarter then any dog I've ever owned.
