another Michelin tire buying question

anyone compared FMCA Michelin Plan to Michelin Advantage Plant (Fleet Plan but can be fleet of one coach). Processing time is longer but wondering if price is better one over other?

I am in the process of purchasing mine through the FMCA plan. I have not seen any prices for any other fleet plan so can't compare. The FMCA plan brings the cost down for mine (235/80R22.5 LRG) to equal or less than Hankooks or the others. Nearly half of the cost of Goodyear.

The manager of the tire store I am dealing with seems very interesting in my business and actually showed me her cost in tire per over-the-counter purchase versus the FMCA plan's cost. The savings is certainly worth the membership fee. She, tire center manager, did suggest me applying for Michelin plan for possible future use sayings a little more savings is sometime seen. I do wonder how much difference one might find from shop to shop in mounting, parts, balancing, etc cost. In my case about $150 per tire in total cost including tax, however she offered $50 per each of my tires. I feel I could get more if I wanted to haul the tires home then fool with selling them.

I too am working with a very cooperative manager of the tire shop. He is pulling his hair out trying to find "fresh" tires for me. He can order XRV direct from Michelin but there is a 6 week backorder on the XRV's. We are planning on a trip leaving on 6/22 and that would be cutting it really close. He has found 4 XRV's in his warehouse with 2013 dates and suggested XZE for the front. Now the problem is that he can't find any fresh XZE's either. The two he has in his warehouse are 2011 dates and I won't accept them for a motorhome.

The prices from him are very good. I will have a total of $33.77 per tire federal and local tax. Labor to install including new extended valve stems is $45.00 per tire. With the FMCA price I am just over $2700 out the door. My existing tires are 8 years old, if the new ones last that long someone else will likely own the motorhome by then.

I don't know what a Michelin Advantage Plant (Fleet Plan but can be fleet of one coach) is but if it's a FLEET PURCHASE PLAN that is exactly what FMCA's plan is.

We spent $2605.00 ( total) at a Big O tire dealer for our six 235x80x22.5 tires. How does that compare with the FMCA deal?

I just got 6 new Michelin 235/80 22.5 put on this morning under the FMCA Advantage plan. Won't do that again. Total cost out the door was $3105, that is what Michelin billed my credit card. And that is $221 more than buying non FMCA plan. My big complaint with the plan is there seems to be no way to know the exact plan price until after you purchase and they are installed. So no way to really compare prices. The dealer where I got the tires estimated the out the door price at $2881 and that means the total billed by Michelin was $224 more than the estimate. I did get February 2013 build tires where the other dealer for less money could not get 2013 tires. They would have been mid to late year 2012 tires.

It is my understanding that FMCA does not pass along to the customer all the savings possible under the fleet purchase plan. Some is pocketed by FMCA. This difference was evident when I compared prices under the Monaco International pricing (which used Navistar's account) to those available through FMCA. Now that Monaco isn't owned by Navistar that path isn't available anymore, however.

docj - is it possible FMCA isn't taking a cut but simply didn't have the clout to get the same pricing Navistar had? I don't know a thing about "Fleet Pricing" but can imagine all "fleets" are not created equally. I am planning to use the FMCA program in the next year and I'm certainly interested in what's going on here. Although - I have not had a lick of trouble with the GY 670s - a little price help is always a good thing for a comparable product.

There is something wrong here.

FMCA has the price list online. Did you pay more that this list???

My tires cost were exactly the same as the above FMCA chart.

Scan and post your tire invoice from Michelin. Mine is below. Note: I also had new steel truck valve stems installed.

We replaced all 6 last summer. The plan FMCA has set up with Michelin offers quite a savings. I would compare cost of installation as that could vary, the price for Michelin is set, as I remember.

I think I got taken again !!

Just had 6 275/70r/22.5 XZA2 put on thru the FMCA program. Four two weeks ago and yesterday two for the front. First time it was $2641.49,
yesterday it was $1310.47. Didn't do them all at once because front tires
weren't that old, but noticed a slit on the bottom of the side wall, so going out to Co. in a few weeks didn't want to chance it. If theres a next time I'm going to do alot more checking around.

I don't have the Michelin invoice back yet. I was basing my cost between what the dealer estimated and what Michelin actually charged my credit card. And then basing that against what 2 other non FMCA Michelin tire dealers gave me as there low dollar price. Going from that point as I see it I would have been better off without the plan, except I did get 2013 tires that the other dealers could not get. I did get all 6 balanced, new valves all the way around. I also took my old tires with me so there was no scrap charges, which I think the dealer said was $12 per tire. I’ll post the invoice when it arrives, but that may be 5 or 6 weeks from now as we are heading out on the road.

Monaco International's National account pricing has nothing to do with Navistar. It was negotiated between the club and Michelin. I believe Monaco America has the program also. MI is independent of the manufacturer and operates as an FMCA affiliated club.
