Took the Old Beast to my tire dealer for my 30,000 mile rotation and he refused based on some minor cracking on the sidewalls.(dated code-011)- Installed 2012.
Tires have 52,000 on them and are 3 yrs old, He suggested new tires and suggested to change from Michelin to Firestone- FS560, He offered a $90 credit for the Michelin's to help me out.
Thought about it and I agreed- apt for this Monday.
Came home and just for fun called Michelin and to asked about the cracking issues and Let me tell you, They were all over me with assistance and offered to replace my tires - prorated of course, so now I'm waiting for a $ number to see if its worth while.
Has anyone else had this happen and did Michelin offer support?

Had a set of Michelins on my Class C and had to replace with less then 5 years on them and very few miles. This was about 10 years ago. Didn't check on it back then.

The cracking is a known issue on the Michelin so I'm not surprised they are offering to help, I would jump on this because sooner or later their wallet will get tighter as people jump on the band wagon.

After my Michelins had this problem I've stuck with Bridgestone, currently have ~45K miles on my front 6 year old tires and they look like new. ~25K on my rears and they look newer then new

My last set of Michelins, and I do mean last, were seriously cracked in three and a half years. Would not have another set at any price.

On Michelin cracks read page 9 on this PDF

Their is a reason Michelin has 0 days warranty on cracks.
On the other hand Good Year has a 7 year warranty on cracks.

If Michelin offered to help with the cracked tires.
Go right away out, and buy a Power Ball lottery ticket

My XRVs are cracked after 4 years and 20,000 miles. I will call Michelin (Canada) on Monday to see if they will do anything for me. I'll report back.

Helpful Advice !
I'm going back to my Tire Guy on Monday- AM -- Michelin is calling me while I'm there to get this settled, I do need to mention this though =,
This my 3rd set of XRV's and the other sets never had any issues or cracking of sidewalls.
I'll post an updated after I get back on Monday when we settle.
Think I'll go buy that Power Ball Ticket now!

Well Gang,
We have a set of 255x80R 22.5 XRVs on our coach dated 3410 for all 6. They were installed on the coach, for the previous owner at Les Schwab. We've put right at 22,000 miles on them in the four years we've owned the coach. To date, not ONE CRACK, in any of the 6 so far. In the past, I've been a bit skeptical about Michelin tires due primarily to the horror stories of RVers and truckers.

But, so far, these have served us very well. The coach handles nicely, rides as good as most Diesel units do and, so far, based on the recommended tire pressure chart from Michelin, the wear pattern is dead on. I will say one thing though. These tires NEVER see the light of day, if we aren't traveling in it. The previous owner(s) all kept this coach under a drive-under cover and we now have it in an RV garage, attached to the house. I suspect that covering the coach, as well as the tires, surely has an effect on how well they endure the elements.

We have the Michelins also. (255/80/22.5 ) Was wondering what alternatives in this tire size are available. Seems that the height of the tire from the rim is hard to match. With our MH the jacks already hang low and a 70 height tire might be a problem. Was able to find 255/70/22.5 Yokohamas which I think are good. Any ideas on this. They are also much less$.Thanks !

Have you checked the depth of the cracks and compared to recommendations in the Michelin tire guide?

XZEs are the Michelins that side wall cracked at less than 3-1/2 years old on my coach..... and which Michelin Customer Care replaced all 6 with.... (guess what?)...new OLD XZE tires manufactured within a week of the ones that cracked.
