My first year with a Diesel. I checked the antifreeze and it was clear like water. It tested -45. I checked it with a total of three testers and they all said -45 but there is no color to the fluid. Any ideas??

The newer antifreeze isn't green. The stuff we use at my repair shop is a yellow-ish color but a very weak yellow to begin with. That may be the reason.

You also need to check for the presence of SCA, which prevents cavitation corrosion of the engine. This is crucial in diesels. You can search the forums on SCA for more info on testing and the need for SCA additives.

What engine do you have? Some anti-freezes' have an acid in them and can't be used in Cummins engines. It attacks the silicone in some gaskets and hoses.
