I dont believe the antifreeze is necassary if you will be running the furnace. I think Travelsupreme has ducted heat to the tanks so you should not have a problem.

A cup of anti-freeze in 3 gallons of water would be enough for your trip.

When you are traveling fluid in the tanks should be sloshing around and that will help prevent freezing, no?

I agree with Rick. A couple cups of RV antifreeze should do the trick and can't hurt anytime when traveling in winter.

It will depend on how cold it gets on your journey. Take a full jug of antifreeze, good to 50 below, and set it outside. At 18 below celcius you will be lucky to pour it out of the jug. No, it is not frozen but will turn to a heavy slush. Totally different than engine antifreeze. I honestly don't think 1 or 2 cups in your holding tanks will make a difference if temps drop big time.

The only time the tank will split is if it's full. As long as there is space in the tank it won't split even if it freezes. That's why water lines freeze because of no space to expand.

With the amount of salt urine contains, I wouldn't worry at all about the black tank freezing...

Why put any water in except for about a cup per urine flush? Just add water before you dump when in warm weather.

pk42, you will be fine, just pour from your a/freeze jug straight into the toilet and don't worry, as Rich & Radarman suggested. I do it every year when I winterize and have not had any problems in the last 8 + years. Good luck, enjoy your trip and be safe while you travel down the yellow brick road.

The tank will probably be fine The pipes and valves may have a problem since they are smaller and less protected.
