I'm looking for sightseer owners to compare notes with(likes, dislikes, problems upgrades etc). I can't decide whether to trade up or upgrade. Could use some advice from more experienced rv'r.

A bit lower on the main page is a Winnebago owners forum. If you post this message there you might get some more responses.

When you go to the Winnebago section you will also get more responses if you explain what your problem(s) are so that a recomendation might be based on that.

So far I'm very satisfied with our Sightseer. I'm looking at upgrading the battery to 4 6volts, small solar charger for the chassis battery and adding dash fans. After that we'll see what the usage dictates.

Y-Guy.....is there room in the battery compartment for 4-6 volt golf cart batteries? I put golf cart batteries in our Itasca and it helped on that 12-volt system. I take it that the Sightseer is a 24 volt system???

Just curious. Our coach is at RnR fixing a few of the minor "bugs" that need worked out when you buy new.

Later!

I have been considering the same thing. However I am not sure there is enough vertical room, since most 6 volt golf cart batteries are taller.

"Jasonm" the Sightseer has a 12 volt system. The 6 volt batteries would have to be connected with 2 sets in series and then the 2 sets are connected in parallel.

When parked for more than 2 weeks and connected to shore power, I use the AUX Battery switch to disconnect the batteries from the system. This seems to preserve battery life and avoid the charger from cooking them dry.

For the chassis battery, I installed the Battery Minder product sold by our sponsor RVUpgrades. This is working very well.

I have a 2004 Sightseer 27C.
Here are the things I have changed & added.
The first thing I did was add 2 drawers ti the bathroom sink vanity. Pics of the Bathroom Mod can be seen on the below web page.
http://we2rv.com/sightseer/drawer/drawer-mod-pics.html

I also added two 120 watt solar panels, a Magum 2000 watt inverter with a 100 amp charger and replavced the two 12 volt coach batterier with 4 6 volt golf cart batteries I bought at Sam's Club.

I was able to fit the 4 golf cart batteries & the 12 volt chassis battery under the entry step
where the original 3 batteries sat.

Larger pic of batteries

For Internet I installed a Manual roof mount for my Internet dish.

Nice setup, Mike! Were the solar panels difficult to install? Where does that wire run from the solar panels to? It looks like through one of your vents????

Mike, that's very nice looking and great inspiration. As a hopefully soon Sightseer owner, many thanks. Travelblog.org looks interesting, I'll have to explore it a bit more...

We bought a 29r in December, a much bigger rig than our 24v. We loved our first winnie, it just got to be too small or our family. The first thing that went wrong was the slide stopped working within days of bringing it home. That took 3 weeks for the dealer and slide manufactuer to decide who was resposnisble for fixing it. Then, this month we took it back becuase of amoung other things, we could not play DVD's on the rear t.v. That cost us a part (and labor, of course) that was purchased at Radio Shack. My husband who loved driving our little winnie, is very unhappy with all the noise the Sightseer makes, and the dealer has not been too helpful there. Aftr Spring break, the Sightseer will be going back to the dealer to replace a gasket that fell off one of the windows, fix the A/C which has totally stopped working, and try and diagnose the noise that is driving my husband nuts! We have been told that most new class A's have a lot of bugs to work out, I hope this will b the case and we will be happy with this purchase since we plan to keep it for many years.
