Anybody ever use carpet paint???

I know, it sounds silly but they actually make fabric/carpet paint. Questions is, The ceiling in my Class A is carpet. There are several water stains from previous leaks and I want to cover them up. I have been thinking about using this fabric paint and was wondering if anybody has ever used it.

If it works, I may do the floor carpet as there are some stains on it as well...

Actually it's a dye. I wouldn't attempt it myself, let a pro handle it.

From what I have seen it actually comes in a spray can. Looks like it's mainly used for painting rugs. The paint actually absorbs into the fabric and does not dry hard like you would think.

only draw back is they say you have to go darker than what the color is now. You can't go lighter.

I have dyed carpets in cars. I used Ritz Dye mixed up in a plastic pail and applied with cheese cloth folded over. Do it in steps and you can get the desired results. I'd try it where it didn't show as a trial.

Have you tried removing the stains instead of trying to cover them? I've used white vinegar mixed with water to remove stains from floor carpet.

When we bought our previous coach, there were water stains in the ceiling "carpet". Really ugly looking. After I sealed the roof vents and a cable opening in the roof, I thought about doing the same thing as you are proposing. Then I decided to lighten the stains so they wouldn't show through the paint. I used our Hoover carpet wet vac and some OxiClean Carpet & Area Rug Stain Remover on the ceiling and used the Hoover to sucked the stains right out! It worked so well, I did not use the paint. The only problem was the boss said "now the rest of the ceiling looks dingy, can't you clean the rest of it too?"

Many years ago, when shopping for a cheap car, I looked at some at a dealer who dyed the carpets as a part of his "reconditioning". The stuff was still wet, and I wasn't impressed. Maybe it would have been OK after it had cured a while. I didn't buy one of his rebuilt wrecks anyway.

After almost 49 years of marital bliss I have had the "Or else" treatment 309 times. I'm a slow learner.
I like your approach in cleaning and removing the stains. We have dyed carpets mainly due to sun damage to carpeting especially in convertible top cars.
