I buy fuel from a known good source and change oil according to the manufacturer's recommendation. No additives. But I do take my wife out to eat occasionally on what I saved by not buying them. That makes both of us feel good.

edit: And the motorhome runs great too. Amazing, isn't it

When our motorhome sits for a long time I put a quart of Lucas in. Not sure if it does any good or not. Maybe it is just snake oil.

We bought this diesel, our first, about 16 months ago. Had the oil analysis done right after we bought it. All numbers were good. A few months latter talking with a good friend who has had lots of heavy equipment for a long time. He swears by Lucas, so I bought a couple of gallons and added it every time I filled up.

A few months later, I attended a Spartan training seminar......they say, not necessary, you are wasting your money. In Dec I had another oil analysis, not as good as the first one, the only thing different was the Lucas. Enough said, I stopped the Lucas, changed the oil, drove it 4K miles and retested the oil. Nice clean numbers again.

Nope, it is low in the ranking of diesel fuel additives.

IMHO - Lucas markets snake oil. However, I do treat my fuel with Biobor JF - it's widely used in marine applications, aviation and military to prevent contaminants from growing in diesel fuel.
