I'm thinking scam too.
I did a bit of investigating and research on that phone number and from what I'm gathering, it's a Google number opened in India. That's what it appears to me to be.
Remember, just because a phone number has a particular area code, nowadays, it doesn't really indicate that the person/entity using that number is physically located in the geographical area that the area code is assigned.
You can open a Google Voice account anywhere in the world and choose any U.S. area code to have as your phone number.
Plus, look at how many people keep their cell phone numbers even when they move to a state on the opposite side of the country.
It's not like the old days (I'm an old guy
) before cell phones and internet technology where you knew for sure where a phone number was physically coming from.
