Anyone put larger diameter tires on your diesel pusher.

My coach was parked next to another bus today and I noticed the other coach’s tires looked significantly bigger.

Then i took note of the size. Mine are 275/70-22.5 his were 365/70-22.5 in the front and 315/80-22.5 on the rears.

This got me wondering if i could put larger tires on my coach. It’s a Fleetwood 44b 450hp.

I’m assuming the larger tires would provide a softer ride? I’m not in need of new tires but it got my wheels turning.

Thoughts?

You get your coach weight and use the proper tire inflation tables and you will enjoy a softer ride not bone jarring ride.

You can check this site out (or lots of others): https://tiresize.com/comparison/

I'm betting that to go to a 315 or a 365 tire you would also need to go to new (wider) rims which would significantly add to the expense. Also note that the tires have a much larger rolling circumference, so your speedo and odo would be off (reading way low) and given the size difference, you'd maybe even want to change your differential gearing.

Certainly not a cheap upgrade idea

Wow. That’s a significantly larger tire. Wonder if I’d have clearance issues.

At first pencil it looks to be about a $10,000 upgrade. Those tires are nearly double the cost of the smaller 275’s.

They might be beach parking RV'ers. Using those wider tires to give them more of a footprint to avoid getting stuck on a Mexican beach.

The 365/70 front and tag with 315/80's are what I have. Good luck trying to fit them under something not designed for them. The 365's take a 10" wide rim too.

Agreed. Lol. I’m not unhappy with what i have it just got me thinking.

Have you ever driven a coach with the smaller tires to be able to draw a comparison?

The added 5" in height when you step out of your MH might be interesting.

Not a good idea. Even if you spent the $10,000 for the upgrade, I doubt you would have enough wheel well clearance in the rear or turning clearance in the front. I went from a 255/80/22.5 to a 275/80/22.5 on an 03 Phaeton and had to trim the inner lip of the rear wheel well. Any larger, and they would not fit through the opening. Hopefully, you can get those turning wheels in your head stopped before they get you into trouble.
