Anyone regret having too long/short a motorhome
My wife said to me recently she reckons we should of purchased a much shorter class A than our 35footer.
Has anyone ever regretted the length of the motorhome they purchased?
I like the idea of a 26-28ft class A but I bet my wife would complain it's too small.
It will be 2020 before we change but would like to make short list of rigs so I can keep an eye on what's said on the forums.

We like our 27 footer, but want more room and better amenities. Most of the places we stay, including State Parks have no problem with that size rig, though I will miss staying in Big Basin State Park and Calaveras Big Trees State Park.

I suspect that many people can't buy their " last " MH first. Now you know she would like something smaller. If you could get her to sign something saying she promises not to change her mind....... just sayin'
Good luck!

No.
I've only driven it once but I always knew I wouldn't want less than 37 now with my two sons and later in my old age whether driving or parked.

Yes, wish it was 40-45 with slides rather than 36 with none. More basement space for one. Honestly I wish I could design one from scratch because the factories have different space usage priorities than I do. Bedroom needs only be big enough for the bed & room to make it, closet and drawer space. Shower just a bit larger so my elbows are not always hitting the glass. Slightly larger vanity counter. The rest of the extra space cab forward.
But for the price I paid for this beauty I'm well pleased. I own it outright which is nice. She will be getting quite a few upgrades beginning in the fall and I will gain more storage, better space usage, bigger shower (in tile) and a slightly bigger vanity as it will wrap around the corner a wee bit for those things it's more convenient to leave out when parked.

My wife said the exact same thing about snow blowers. I wanted a BIG, two stage snow blower capable of throwing wet, heavy snow into the next county if/when that was appropriate. She wanted one of those little tiny single stage things. Her logic was that if it was light - she could use it too. I won that debate by simply asking when was the last time she used ANY of the powered yard equipment we own? (a rhetorical question which I already knew the answer too! )
When we drive past a parking lot that taking our 44 footer into or run into the occasional park we'd like to stay in that can't fit us - she'll comment about how we should have gotten something smaller. The truth of the matter is - the difference even 15 feet would make in the situations that elicit the "we should have gotten something smaller!" comments is open for discussion ... and she LOVES the living space in the large coach we did buy.

When we were looking/researching to buy this one, I was adamant that I wanted to stay between 32' to 34' max. In looking we found that for a few thousand more we could buy a better equipped MH, with a bigger Chassis, more NCC, and a bath and a half. In driving them all I didn't see any difference in being able to handle the extra length, but the longer MH on the bigger chassis, with the 22.5 tires handled and drove much better. We are really glad we went bigger than originally planned. You get acclimated to the extra length in a few trips, but if you buy too small that will last until you buy another MH. We love our MH and when we are out in it are very comfortable and have spent weeks on the road being more comfortable than we could have ever imagined while "camping".
So far we have not had any issues staying in CG's we like due to size/length. Most CG's can accommodate the larger MH's these days, and have increased their max length limits. Occasionally you will find ones with limited spots but that has not been an issue for most of the places we travel/camp.
The only time that I wish we bought smaller is when I wash and wax it as I do all my own maintenance.

I think our 34'-35' home is perfect... the shorter wheelbase makes for and easy turn radius, backing is not a hazardous chore, and the interior length is just fine for traveling, or full time living.

What about being blown around in a shorter coach? I know the conversation has to do with the number of feet. But it's all important right?
Weight and wheelbase to a great degree determine ride and handling. How does an under 30 footer handle in real world driving the highways and byways?
Getting there comfortably is all part of the experience and please don't think I'm pushing you one way or another. I've not driven a Class A under 30 feet and they may handle very well, I don't know?
It seems from what I've read on the forum over the years, especially from the first coach! Most seem to wish they had something larger, but that's most and not necessarily you good folks!

I am not sure what to say here, I have a 28 ft Safari Trek and think it is just about right most of the time. Sure a 26 ft Trek might be nice for getting into and out of more places, but I would not want to give up 700 pounds of cargo carrying capacity, no kitchen table or no large shower for it being only 19 inches shorter.
Now the lack of a separate bedroom in the Trek with its combo living room / bedroom can be an issue when we are stuck inside due to weather and it would be nice to have something larger with a separate room, but that is not much of an issue.
Even a small class B might be attractive at times, but I don't want a toilet in my shower
p.s. handling and wind can be a issue, but there are some suspension upgrades that can help, I am fine with cross winds up to about 15-20 mph as long as they are not sudden gusts.

Our first class a was 26' with no slides.
Current rig is 28' with 2 slides and we feel like we are living large. Anything bigger would not make it up the driveway or fit in our parking space.

MH size
We just love the liveabilty of our 45 bath and half. Would be hard to downsize. Also, the comfort and handling of our tag is a real plus. Just have to plan trips more carefully. But, we fell it's worth it. Entegra Anthem 45B, Jeep Grand Cherokee toad.

I always felt that buying an RV was like buying a TV. Nobody ever says "I should have bough a smaller one".

Loved our 35' gasser we had previously and love our 42' diesel we have now!
We'd still be in our previous gasser if we had not found such an awesome deal on our diesel.
