Anyone tint the driver and passenger side windows?

I love the view out of the windows in a class a. However, I don't really care for being on display to every passing motorist.

I am wondering if tinting the side windows would make much of a difference considering how large the windshield is.

I hate to spend the $$$ to discover it caused no noticeable difference.

Yes, I tinted mine. A lighter tint on the drivers window and entry door, and limo black on all the rest. My drivers window would bake me when I was driving down the road and that side was in the sun. Made a huge difference.

Be careful tinting any window you need to look through to see your side view mirrors. The tint causes a mirror like reflection and when driving at dusk and at night it is very difficult to see what is going on along side you on the road and when backing into a site.

Illegal in some areas unless it is factory tinted window. May never get stopped but may have to remove it if you do.

I see what you are saying with that. I do have rear and side cameras which do help a lot at night.

Also, do all class a's have screens in the driver/passenger side windows? I find them to be a nuisance and am thinking of removing them.
Almost all times I am parked I have the front curtains closed for privacy and to block the sun. I am just wondering if there is a benefit I am not seeing. I mean my class c didn't have screens on the doors. ?????

Interesting thread..

I've been wanting to tint my front window... not a hard/dark tint.. just on the top and bottom of the large front window... driving in the sun, our front is like a terrarium..

Has anyone done that?

Again.. not the direct viewing area.. just to help keep the sun off the dashboard and possibly try keeping the front area somewhat cool on those hot sunny days of driving..

Tenting double-paned windows is really tricky.... I decided instead to buy pull-down tinted shades instead and I love them.... Just reach up and pull it down to the level I need to block the sun/heat and I'm good to go.... Gets cloudy and I simply pull the auto-retract and its are out of the way....

Exactly. I had mine tinted and could not drive at night . That wasn't an issue as I didn't drive at night however , I've left a few campgrounds before daylight and that was a task.

One thing you need to know is this:

Though I have seen cars come out of the factory (Used to own one in fact) with full tint all the way around,,, Many States seriously limit the amount of tint in the "Front Seat" side windows. This applies to motor homes too.

So how do I avoid being "On display" (when parked) Close the curtains of course.. I also use Reflectx (Reflective silver stuff) when parked, When Driving it gets rolled up and stowed (And the curtins pulled back)

NOTE: IF you want to tint, I have no problem with it.. But the passing cop... .. I am not him.

My side windows came tinted and they are really hard to see out of at night and when the side window is open I have to close it otherwise I can't see to go around turns because the double tint from both windows together is just too dark.

EricGT... Had our coach windows tinted per State authorized limits... Lite tint for drivers & front passenger viewing areas... Darker tint for the single pane drivers overhead top window... Limo tint for everything else.. Side & rear view camera, large dual mirrors and we only drive/travel during the day lite hours.. The tint saves our interior from sun/UV color fade, less AC useage and cooler inside temps during heat of the day for that extended 15 minute power nap!. Lol

DocUSAF....

Does your rig have dual-paned windows??? If so, did you use a special tint???

I tinted the windows (single pane) in my previous motor home and regretted it until I traded. It caused all sorts of strange reflections in the windows and windshield and I couldn't see the dash gauges. This was my daytime experience. I never drove that motor home at night so I don't know the effects at night.
I don't mind if someone next to me looks at me. They're just jealous. I give'm a big grin and a wave. They usually smile and wave back.

I tinted side windows to reduce the sun and heat coming in when traveling north/south. Works great. Go to an experienced tint shop and they know all about the laws and best product to use. I considered doing a band across the top of the windshield but did not as that is less of a problem area for me.
