Aqua-hot and Hurricane

A cursory look at these systems tells me that they are essentially the same thing. Are there any key differences between the two?

But boy do these setups sure seem like the way to go (especially being in the NW)!

I can't speak to the difference between the two, but it appears to me that the Hurricane is simpler and easier to maintain. I recently had routine service on mine performed by the manufacturer in Vancouver WA.

I can say that they are definitely great; we have relatively quiet, uniform heat and unlimited hot water. Because they operate off of the main diesel tank, they essentially have an unlimited fuel supply.

Simpler design and local? That gains a lot of favor.

I'm curious what an install on an older 35-40 ft DP would cost. That should certainly help the resale value too when we upgrade.

Although I don't believe the Hurricane system, itself, is in production any longer, but the manufacturer, Welcome To International Thermal Research | International Thermal Research has a series of current models for sale in the RV and marine industries. My suggestion is to give them a call and ask. The basic system is probably in the ~$5-6k range (parts only), but the real cost of a retrofit would be the labor. But you won't know until you ask.
