Question Aqua hot coil leaking

Has anyone repaired a copper coil on there model 100 aqua hot. I had it winterized and there was not enough antifreeze run thru it and it frooze and split. Aqua hot sait that the 3/8" line runs on the outside of the tank and I need to just cut out the split in pipe and resoilder a new piece in. Has anyone done this?

You must be mistaken, nothing could be wrong with your AH system. When I made a disparaging remark about the reliability of AH systems on another thread, several people said I was crazy, they are wonderful. Oddly enough, two of them had replaced the entire unit at considerable expense.

I have this same problem but my copper pipe is on the inside of the hydro-hot box assembly. My assembly is the HHE-200-08E-12 VDC Model.

Yes, but your "disparaging remark" was:

A bit over the top, I would say, and yet no one said you were crazy, they just said they liked their Aqua-Hot systems, so much that they wouldn't have a coach without one. I feel the same way. That said, Aqua-Hot (and other hydronic) systems are not break-proof, especially if not maintained (and winterized) properly, and they are very expensive to repair or replace if you let them freeze.

Agree that I would check with Roger Burke on his Aqua Hot forum. He can likely advise what you are in for.

Be glad at least that your coil is on the outside of the boiler and can be repaired. Those with the coil inside the boiler are not repairable, at least that is what I understand.

Who did your Winterization? If it was a dealer or repair facility, I would think they would have some responsibility for your repair costs.

Aqua hot repairs

Well, After hearing and experiencing the pro's and cons of a

aqua- hot system I have news for you. Bought this coach back in October of last year (2001 Monoco Exectuive) it was a repossion. I previous ly owned a 2000 Discovery. Never had a problem with the water system. Unbenonst to me the Aqua -Hot system was toast. The Aqua hot technician removed it from the coach. Upon inspection it had numerous cracked coils on the out side of the tank I was informed that it had to be rebuilt at the factory at a cost of 6k +. I guess they are a wonderful system if you don't have to replace it. I was told there is no quick fix. . I know now I should have done my homework. It's just my 2 cents worth .

Not to sidetrack the Original posters thread, but honestly, AquaHot and Oasis both are adamant about having the burners serviced yearly AND ensuring that they are winterized if they're not going to be in continuous use during inclement temperatures. I don't know that I've ever seen or even heard of a coil failure that wasn't caused by operator/owner error - either through lack of service or not winterizing properly. The following does not apply to the OPs unit, but the diesel fired unit's yearly service is quite simple, requires a filter or two, complete inspection of the combustion chamber sleeve, replacement of the fuel nozzle, a good brushing of the combustion chamber, gapping the electrodes, testing the circulating fluid pH, cleaning the flame sensor, etc etc. Every other year I replace the pressure cap, and voila, you're off to the races in 60 minutes.
