Aqua Hot exhaust pipe replacement. B

Lost the exhaust on my aqua Hot unit. The one and only hanger failed and the pipe broke off flush with the aqua hot. I looking for a repair shop that can remove the piece of pipe in exhaust pipe left in the aqua hot. We are on east coast until Feb 16. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

As a plumber I have done this more times then I can remember.

wrap a cloth around a bare hacksaw blade, saw into pipe from the inside. stop when reaching start of threads, you will be able to see the threads in the cut.

Use a small screwdriver or punch with a small hammer to fold in pipe at the cut. The pipe is soft steel. fold in until able to unscrew.

or hire a good plumber. They are skilled enough to not damage threads as their repairs on water pipes must water tight.

Dear Thunderjet, I have done that with plastic sprinkler connections but never tried on a steel connection, but think I could do it. Really appreciate your information and suggestion. Thank You

Happened to me too. Find a place that does heavy duty custom exhaust. They will do the job. Cost was just under $300 for both AH and the Onan.

Thank you for the info. Do you have any suggestions along the east coast from Washington DC to key west fl?

I was enroute to Denver when mine happened, I had it done in Denver. I found them by calling a mobile AH service guy, he gave me the recommendation. AH lists their authorized service, including mobile repair. Pick an area you have some time in and get a recommendation from them. It took about a week to get me in so I made a appointment in Denver passing through IN. I called several AH repair places in the Front Range and the same name came up. Sorry I can't be more specific.

That sounds like a good idea. I have seen the AH list of authorized repair people. To back we aren't home as we live just 100 miles from Denver. Thank you for the suggestion.
