Are you getting ready

for an RVing trip. Those of us in New England and other places can finally (I hope) put away our winter coats. We are hoping to go to Newfoundland this summer BUT

for those of you who know me this is our first MH having had TT and we really had no clue. Yesterday my husband hooked our TOAD up so we could take it for a check up in RI. We had just pulled away from our house when the car detached. NO joke Luckily it was his fault. He hadn't put in the pins or whatever goes to the car properly. Needless to say it pull much of the front of the car off and the side that covers the wheel. It is functioning find but!!!

YIKES!!! Double, TRIPLE check you hook ups.

When we first got our toad, I tried to out smart the steering wheel lock...once! First tight turn, the key moved and the lock...well, locked. After a quarter mile, I saw the smoke, and there was a lot of horn activity as well. Oh, the lessons I've learn.

Whoa!! That's one thing he will probably never do again!! Glad no one was hurt.

We got our Bounder all spiffed up and ready to roll a couple of weeks ago. Sanitized the fresh water tank and did several annual maintenance chores. Now we just need a TRIP planned!!

Talking

In 4 or 5 weeks we're taking off for a cross country trip. DH is now working on what places he wants to see out west. We're figuring out what we're going to need and what we wont need..... and the 4 cats are going with us.

We are leaving for Fort Wilderness tomorrow morning. Spent the weekend getting things ready and testing the systems. We also took out new toad for a test behind the coach and all is well!

I am new to RV'ing and I found out the hard way about the need for checklists. My first trip with my motor home last fall, I forgot to retract the leveling jacks, and to retract the TV antenna, on pack up at trip completion. Since then, I purchased a Rand McNally 7715 GPS that has checklists for just about everything related to my adventures. I have found this indispensable for this 64 year old newbie that appears to be showing signs of Alzheimers.

Material things can be replaced or repaired, glad no one was hurt.
We looked in to the Newfoundland, tour , when we crossed Canada 4 years ago. $$$$$. 14hr ferry ride, propane off; so food would probably spoil , and no access to the car decks to check on pets, if your traveling with any.
DW , figured it would be cheaper to fly, to the Rock, from Nova Scotia, and rent a car for 6 days and hotel it for 7 nights than pay the ferry round trip and camp sites.
A late season hurricane , made up our minds for us, and we headed back west. I'd love to see Newfoundland , but it'll have to wait till , I win the Lottery.

Yup finally nice here as well. We might just sleep in it in our driveway if we can't get away.

What fun. We went a couple of time when the kids were young. One problem was the hubby has summers off so...it was always very hot when we went.

There is now an 8 hour ferry and we can stay in the MH with the furbabies. I know it is expensive but our dogs have to come when they can.
