Assistance needed please

I have a 92 HMC Aerosport II,
I have a small prob im hoping someone can assist me with.
Along the left arm rest, (drivers seat) i have a switch for shifting gears, as well as a small LED screen indicating the current gear it is in, my issue is, it shows a single line on it, not a gear, in order to shut down the diesel engine, i need to very slightly tention the switch back until the "N" shows, and will then shut down, Now i just tried to start it again with nothing happening, not even a "click" such as dead or low battery, it seems the gear posision doesnt reveal itself unless the engine is running.....??
Any way, the shift selector seems suspect, any ideas ???
does anyone know where i may be able to purchase this item ???
Thanx all

Bawb........aka, Bob
