Anyone have any suggestions on attaching things to the walls of the coach?

I've been using Command products and got a lot of good things, but there are a few things I want to screw into the walls...

What kind of material is generally behind the wallpaper? Any suggestions on what screws to use? Will it be different for interior walls than the exterior?

My thought is that the interior walls are probably safer to screw into, and I should plan to use the shortest screw that looks like it might get the job done. Also going to look for spots that already have screws as a clue as to where it might be safe to drill. Also screwing into the wood cabinetry should be safe but will make sure to drill a hole first to avoid cracking and whatnot.

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

I dont like putting holes in wall but if I had to it would be shortest smallest screw possible. Can you hang what your wanting to hang into a cabinet instead? I would look for those caulking spots on the wall if they are visible where they cover the staple holes and predrill with small bit.

Working with a Thor Windsport 34P.

Thor may have a dimensional layout of your side walls so you'll know where the studs are and if they are wood or metal, etc.

Or, get a stud finder from Home Depot and you'll be able to tell when the studs are and then select the appropriate fastener. At least that works on my MH.

For hanging a clock, pictures, or similar, I use a short screw that will take the threads about a quarter inch past the surface. Most wallboard is about an eighth inch thick but you need to grab it firmly. Any longer risks damaging wiring or plumbing inside the wall.

In addition to the one screw, I also use a hook and loop or Velcro strip at the bottom of the device being hung. That will keep the device from popping up and off the wall when you go over a bump and prevents the device from swinging back and forth, damaging the wall covering.

To remove the device, pull the bottom out to disengage the Velcro then lift the device off the screw. This is particularly effective for wall clocks to change the battery.

I like to use the 3M VHB tape. It is super-strong and I don't like to punch holes in the walls. Just noticed that you are kinda new on IRV2 and wanted to say hello! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Thanks! Trying to avoid feeling like I got in over my head with this recent purchase. Figure the forums are the best way to learn all this stuff. Will check out the VHB tape for sure!
