Hello guys,
We have a 2006 r vision trial lite, 33 ft Chevy workhorse chassis.
We have an ongoing issue with the auto park brake coming on. Randomly the warning light will come on while driving, and once the rig is stopped and put into park, the auto park brake will not release.
The shops I have taken it to, can’t seem to find the issue, and just replace the relay, which has gone bad each time this happens.
I am now carrying around additional relays as this happens way to often.
Has anyone had this happen ? Any solutions that anyone found ?

Use SEARCH to find many posts about Autopark. However, the acknowledged expert is Roger Haag (Old Used Bear) who has a website dedicated just to Autopark. This is the absolute best place for information AutoPark parking brake system help, troubleshooting, and repair

I know nothing about your coach or the brake system, but you are saying that you just need to replace the relay to fix the problem.
So have you taken a failed relay apart to see what part of it is failing? A relay normally has a low current coil that activates a high current switch. The coil will either be good, open, or shorted. Compare a good relay to a failed relay with an ohm meter to determine it's condition.
Don't know how the automatic brake works, but probably like the air brake, a spring activates the brake and air releases the brake. In your case a constant electric current releases the brake, and when the relay goes bad, there's no activation of the switch part of the relay and no brake release. You'll need to activate the switch part manually to see if it releases the brake.
My guess is that the coil is going bad possibly by too much voltage being applied to it. Possibly something has to be in series with the coil to reduce the voltage dropped over the coil, so the problem would be on the input side of the relay.

One question, are you talking about the "parking brake" or the "park" setting on the shifter in the transmission not releasing.

Hello, thank you for the thoughts, it sounds like a good place to start.
Its the auto Park Brake, or the ER brake.

As George suggested in post #2 above, contact Roger (old used bear). He is the EXPERT on the J71 AAPB system.

OOPS...just re-read your post.....if your coach is on the 2005 model year P32 chassis, then it will have the J72 version of the AAPB. Roger MAY be able to help, but his expertise is on the J71 AAPB.
