Automatic Transfer Switch

MY automatic transfer switch for my generator and shore power has done it's last and I am going to replace it. I have a 30A service. I should be an easy repair however there are dozens of switches on the market for RV's and I was wondering if someone could offer a little guidance on which brand to purchase. The one that is bad is no longer manufactured....Thanks

Besides Amazon reviews and opinions here perhaps the RV manufacturer can give a recommendation.

I use the Lyght LPT50BRD. This happens to be their 50 amp model. Good reviews.

cabinhill-

Here is a selection of 30A transfer switches available from bestconverter.com. Give Randy a call ((888) 828-1893)) and ask him which one he would recommend. Some may fit better in the spot where your old switch is installed.

Also, you should add a "signature" to your profile. It contains whatever info you want; most people put info about their RV there, so they don't have to type it into each message. Instructions for adding a signature are here.

I always Google this: Complaints about [Brand, model, P/N]

That usually shows me a little bit more than just the edited praise a manufacturer might show, or more then Amazon reviews might show.

Or, you just chuck it all and go manual old school shore/generator power switching. Just hardwire the shore power cable to the breaker panel input and add a female RV 30 amp outlet to the generator feed. When you want to power the coach from the generator plug the shore power cable into the female outlet and your done. $9.96 cost.

Or you could head out to the local big box store and pick up an outlet enclosure box with a 30 amp outlet. A bit more expense but provides a hard mounted outlet to plug into.
