Aux Starter Solenoid staying hot

I have a 2006 Fleetwood Discovery. The Aux Start solenoid stays hot all the time. I've replaced it by recommendations of the RV Mechanic but the new solenoid also gets hot. Gonna remove it and take it back. $100 refund.

Could it be a bad Switch on my dash?

These are a normally open coil with contacts.......when turned on, the power wire from the switch tells it to close........thus a big magnet being pulled shut.......and held there closing the contacts to pass power through.......and they will get warm to touch......it is the nature of the beast.

The solenoid on my coach has 3 functions , connects the battery banks together , 1- when engine is running; alternator charging ; , 2- when the coach is on shore power ; converter charging , 3- battery boost.

So any time the engine is running or the coach is on shore power the solenoid is powered up and hot ( ish).

The system on my coach is called BIRD, and it's operation, and that of another similar battery interconnect system are covered in this file.
File has several documents melded together so I can't give a page number.

Use a continuous duty solenoid for this application. It is a electro magnetic coil that is energized to hold electrical contacts together. It will get very warm when energized for long periods. Just the nature of the beast. Note, I have replaced 3 of them in five years, and I am considering trying to ventilate the enclosure it is in.
