Avoid Orlando

Going to FCOC rally in Tampa should I take I-4 thru or take the Toll road.

Take the toll roads I4 Orlando has a 22 mile major road construction with multiple lane shifts I avoid it when driving my car

If you are coming from NC, Think about splitting off I-95 at US301 and take that to I-75 into Tampa . You avoid the Orlando mess entirely.

It depends on time of day. If you are going through Orlando from 7AM to 9AM or 3PM to 7pm expect traffic. Lane shifts are no big deal. Like any other city just time it right. I have found I 75 much more frustrating at times but that's just me. I still slow down on I-95 where I saw 3 troopers 35 years ago!
On Edit I should add that I live in Orlando.

If you are in Florida for a bit of time you might want to also get a Sun Pass for your tolls. You can buy the pass and transponder at the first rest area you come to when you enter the state.
This way you avoid the toll booths which can save lots of time. And there is discount on the tolls when using the pass (not a very big one though)
