Awning Problem

I just went to service my RV awning which is an A&E and could not get it to lower. I discovered the cotter pins on both end missing. I must assume they rusted out and broke under the winding tension.

Is there any way to get this awning back in service without relieving the tension and removing the ends? It is presently in the full up position.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You shouldn't have any cotter pins in there when using it. And if it is still attached to the awning rail, the tension should never have been lost.
Is this a power or manual awning? What model?

You are absolutely correct. I had an older person "brain fart". The MH had been in wraps for several years due to my wife's illness (she is great now!) and for some reason I forgot the cotter pin was only for shipment and was removed when the awning was put into service. Your reply jogged my memory and got me on the correct path and I now have the awning working properly.

Thanks much for your reply.
