Awning protection cover

So there has been a number of discussions about awnings unraveling in some windy conditions. I guess I don't understand how that happens given how tight it rolls up with its motor drive unit. Doesn't the tension of being rolled up hold it in place?

I've seen the CAMCO lock that wraps over, but that requires mounting holes through the roof to attach it. That's not in my quality world.

Then I found this cover. Would this protect an awning from unraveling? It certainly would be a PITA but for traveling and some situations it might be worth the effort.

Or am I worried about nothing?

I think that would come in handy for when you are storing you RV and want to keep the elements off of it, would be a major pain when on a trip.

I think the $50 for the awning lock is well worth it, plus I don't have to get a ladder out to unlock it.

I think the unwinding issue may be more prevalent on the awnings requiring springs to roll up. I can't see how a motor driven unit would unwind either.

Window and slide out awnings are generally held in place by spring tension, with a few that will lock.
