Awning too Sensitive

My awning is so sensitive that the slightest breeze will retract it. I have been taking the fuse out so it will stay out. There is no adjustment on the awning to change the sensitivity. Will removing the fuse harm anything or does anyone have any other suggestions? It is a carefree awning and they say I just have to live with it.

Replace the fuse with a switch, so that you can easily reactivate it if a wind comes up.

Is there some way to deactivate the sensor, wherever is is? They used to be a little cup anemometer on the roof and you could just tape it or otherwise prevent it from spinning.

The sensitivity should have an adjustment. I know my Girard does. Who is saying that you have to live with it? If it’s REV I would contact Carefree directly.

There is no sensitivity setting on our 2016 Bounder 33C. Pulling the fuse does not hurt anything, but a big wind might tear off your awning. I second the idea of at least putting a switch in. This will allow for a quicker response when the wind kicks up.

If you can, please indicate the make, model and year of your RV plus the brand of awning. Each one is different, some retract with a change in air flow temperature, some wind speed and others with vibration of the awning.

He did mention that it was a Carefree product and his RV is a 2017 HR 37’ Vacationer.

I actually had mine out all day yesterday. But it was dead calm. The other times I’ve used it was only up for 1/2 hour at a time. I’d guess the 3-5 mph gusts we had was too much. And when the thing auto closed it went through some hellacious contortions. Thought it was gonna tear itself tonpieces.

Ours has an on/off switch to disable the automatic retract feature inside an outside basement storage door. Hopefully yours has a similar switch located somewhere.
