Awning too small, anyone add a second one?

I have a 2015 canyon star 3921 toy hauler and was wondering if anyone with a canyon star (or similar)has added a second awning? I have an 18 foot awnning now and I was told 20 foot is the biggest so I would have to add a second which would go over the top of the slide out. Has anyone done this or have opinions?

The problem with adding an awning that goes over top of the slideout is it has to clear the slide and when fully extended is still very high off the ground. They only give you shade at high noon.

We have a 2014 Coachman Encounter which only had one awning. We too felt it was too small and wanted more awning space. We had our dealer install a second awning on the slide it's self rather than going over top of the slide. It's worked well for us.

I don't have a great view of it but if you look close in the photo you can see the front awning and behind it the arms of the second one.

Here's a link to the photo.

Hope this helps show what we did.

Our 2002 DSDP had one manual awning that went out over the kitchen slide. I would put the awning out, then run the slide out, then lower the awning till it just cleared the slide. The kitchen slide didn't come out very far but I still couldn't get it as low as I would like.
The present rig has two of the Girard like awnings and they are over both the galley and bedroom slides and are pretty high too. I need to get a ladder out and adjust them down some, but even so they'll be pretty high.

Haven't attempted a second awning but want to offer a possible configuration with consideration of the slide. My coach has a slide in the middle of our manual awning and the slide out topper sidewall rail complicates matters somewhat. What the builders did was attach the awning to the roof and added extensions to the awning framing to clear the roof when rolled up. When the slide is extended the awning will roll over the slide topper roller so there are no corners to wear a hole in the awning.

Filled the awning up with rain water once (forgot to drop a corner for water drainage while out sight seeing) and didn't have any problems with the slide/awning contact but the awning tube had a inch or two out of round bow. Surprised it didn't collapse.

Original set up with the extensions and roof mounted rail.

I replaced the carbon steel extensions with stainless.

Base of the awning frame is attached to the coach just the same as any other awning.

What the set up looks like. Notice the bow in the awning? Have since replaced the tube.
