Awning will not retract.
Our carefree awning on our 2016 is extended and will not retract. Checked fuse. It is good. Any ideas?

hit the retract button and listen if you hear a little click. It is not very loud. If so motor has power. We have had that issue. Keep on playing with the button and hope it starts. If not, prod it by simulating wind load and sometimes the auto retract will kick in. The issue if it is like ours was a weak motor that can't get started. They replaced ours. If nothing works google your model and get the instructions. It can be manually taken in.

Does the motor make any sounds at all.....you say carefree does that mean it will retract if there is a so many miles per hour wind? Try by passing that sensor. Last thing I can think of is get you speaker wire and run it from the battery to the motor and see if you get movement.

I had an awning stick out this past summer when showing some of our kids our coach. Due to timing I worked it several times in a short time period. Problem self fixed as I apparently tripped safety in motor or circuit. After sitting over night it finished closing fine and worked since.

I hope your luck on the situation will be better than ours. This summer we had the same problem (different brand) with the power awning on our Adventurer. As it turned out the "motor" is actually 3 parts. A spacer, a motor, and a gear reduction unit.
All the pieces are held together by 2 number 4 machine screws about 4" long. In our case the screws snapped off where they were threaded into the reducer section. The broken screws are all but impossible to remove so we had to replace the assembly. As I recall the new assembly cost around $250.00.
Fortunately the assembly has been redesigned. All the parts are now in one casing rather than stacked one on another and bolted together. The installation was fairly simple.

If it is like ours, where the motor shaft connects to the roller might be in the process of stripping.

Ours would stop and go. Had to wait a few minutes if it stopped before it would start again. Found the wind sensor bad. I have had no problems since replacing the sensor. Mine is located on the roof. Some are on the awning by the motor.
