Back up camera stopped working

The TV box stays dark so it must be the TV part. Wondering if anyone has replaced their camera system, can you use the existing cables wires?

Probably not!

Thanks !

The easiest way is to replace the camera and/or monitor with the same make/model. Then just plug in the new replacement part and your done.

What Coach and camera system do you have?

This^.

Usually, there is no need to replace the cable from monitor to camera. Unless the cable has been compromised somewhere along its route, like an errant screw piercing the cable, it's probably good. If the connectors are bad, they can be replaced by splicing the accessible ends.

In your case, try to determine if the problem is the monitor or the camera, and replace accordingly. Since your monitor is dark with no apparent power, when you begin to investigate, you may find it's a loose connection or blown fuse. Hopefully, you can find the monitor system manual and determine if there is a trouble shooting guide to help. Try online if you don't have the hard copy.

I had a similar issue and it turned out the wires had been pinched in the dash during installation and wore through over time. Was able to cut and splice and all is good.

On 80% of the coaches with this problem it was the in line fuse in the cable about 12 inches or so from the monitor.
