I drove for nearly a month coming back from Alaska with my Alternator not working until I had a chance to replace it just by plugging in at night.
For a 75 mile trip you won't need the generator if you can plug in to shore power to get the batteries fully charged.

Yes, I just went through this a couple of months ago. I ran my generator and jumped from chassis to house batteries. Ran it home another 50 miles until I could get a new alternator. Not sure what you have now but I upgraded to a 200 amp in my country coach
