We balanced our rears the reasoning for my own piece of mind was even though I might not feel in the drivers seat the suspension deals with everything why make it work any harder than it all ready is? That and the tires are pretty big investment so even though the balance might not help them it is certainly not going to hurt them.

Might be wrong but for what it costs I couldn't make an argument not to do it.

Work with a lot of Heavy Equipment operators. They say they never balance rear tires on their dump trucks. My rears on my Country Coach weren't balanced. Seems to ride okay. May get them balanced and see if there's a difference.

how fast can a dump truck go and who drives a dump truck for 300 miles ?
Also the weight of a dump truck changes and fluctuates every minute as they add and remove weight on the truck not the same as a Motorhome. comparing a Motorhome to a dump truck is like comparing an oil tanker to a cruise ship.

I have balancing beads in all tires. I have 4000 miles on the tires and it runs very smooth

I've been driving on my 225/75-19.5 tires for 6-7 yrs now and the rears are not balanced. Put probably 20,000 on them and none show any abnormal wear and I can't feel any vibration. Just got back last month from a 2,500 trip in 5 days. Run anywhere from 65 - 80 on the interstate. Have a 96 Itasca Suncruiser 34 ft.

What does balancing cost ? $25 a tire. What did you pay for the tires, $300 each. A drop in the bucket of owning a MH.

What happens if you need to swap a rear for a front, for what ever reason. The road service guy don't do balancing.

Convencing people that balancing rear tires is necessary is like convencing them that regular oil should be changed every 6 months even if you did not drive 5000 miles or that waxing the motorhome every year protects the paint. Some people just do not believe in preventive maintenance they only fix or invest if there is something broken. then the damadge is several times more.

Really? Why is it any different than a car? When a front tire is out of balance you will feel it mostly in the steering wheel. When a rear tire is out of balance you will feel it in your butt as the back of the vehicle shakes.

True. But if I needed roadside service to replace or swap a tire, as soon as that was done, I'd be heading to a shop the next day and have that tire/rim balanced like all my others.

You don't need to balance rear tires. However, if you rotate them regularly and they will end up on the front they need to be balanced. I insisted all 6 get balanced so I didn't have to worry about it. Also much easier when they are first installed.

Riding around in a F150 doesn't set him up as an expert on bigrigs.

We have all ours balanced it was $25 per tire and smooth as silk.

I laugh when someone says that rear tires don't need to be balanced. They only say it to justify the fact that they were too cheap to do it. If you're not going to balance the rears, why balance the front. Oh yeah, rough ride from a tire that wasn't balanced. For those that say they cant feel any difference when the rears aren't balanced, probably wouldn't feel it if the tires were square.

My favorite, I'll do preventative things if it doesn't cost me anything, otherwise I'll come up with more excuses than Carter has pills as to why I didn't do it.
